Artprize 2012...

Yesterday, during McLleyton's quiet time he made a huge design on his floor using trains and train tracks. When his timer went off (which means he can come out of his room), he came and excitedly told me "Mom you have to check out the AMAZING art that I made in my room."  Thanks to Artprize my kids think so differently about art than I ever did! (www.artprize.org) I love it!

This year I took the girls out of school for a day and we went downtown and had such a fun time together! We spent hours walking and looking at art and when we left their only question was, "when can we go back!" I loved to hear their opinions, thoughts and favorites :). Amazingly, their favorite 2 pieces this year took 1st and 2nd place! The piece that won was a stunning pencil drawing of animals. SO creative and incredible! The artist was there working on the piece and she sat and talked to the girls for a long time. Describing her technique, how she had been drawing it for a year and a half and how much she loved art! She was so kind and the girls were so excited to meet her! It was by far our favorite piece! :)

Our favorite & the winner... it was called Elephants and the piece was 8' tall x 35' long.

The girls making art... Such a fun idea!

We also spent a morning as a family, braving the huge weekend crowds, and showing the boys some of our favorite pieces! Such a fun event that we are already looking forward to next year!
A tunnel made of brown paper lunch bags...

Vibrating floor? Art?... Kids thought it was fun!
